This year's travel... hmm... Ontario?

Hmmm....

Looks like I might be going to Ottawa this summer! Or in September, perhaps. More likely September, in fact, since one of my pals has informed me that July/August in Ottawa is Hellish.

The Canadian Museum of History is going to be hosting the special Death on the Ice Exhibition - artifacts from the Franklin expedition, including pieces recovered from the wrecks of HMS Erebus and Terror! Whoo!

(Okay, it's in Gatineau, not Ottawa, but it's just across the river, and you can literally walk there. So. Let's not get technical. ;p )

...And of course there are plenty of other things to do down east, but that's the main draw for me. I don't know if there will be another opportunity for me to see this stuff any time soon, because the exhibition will be going outside the country once it's finished in Gatineau.

Going to places that I've never visited before is always nerve-wracking, even when it's in my own country, but somehow I have the feeling that this would turn out all right.

Still not 100% decided on this, buuut it does seem like a pretty good idea to me. I'll have to poke around a bit for more information. At least I have plenty of time to decide.

If any of you have been to Ottawa, feel free to throw suggestions at me re: what to do there, if there was anything in particular that you thought was super cool. I have actually been there before, but I was 13 at the time, it was during a hellish school trip, and the only thing that I remember is that the stained glass in the parliament buildings was very pretty.

Sounds like a very cool exhibit!
