☆ Yesterday my car battery died again while I was at the library. Dad came down to give it enough of a boost that I could get home, and we decided that Enough Was Enough; whatever's wrong with it, it's a dud.
Fortunately, I had saved the receipt from when we bought/changed the battery last winter, and it was still within warranty (thanks again for the suggestion that I take a look at that,
kanadka. You saved me a hundred bucks.) So we were able to get a new one without problem. Hopefully it'll all be fine now. I'm really sick of this thing crapping out on me on the coldest days of the year. ;V
☆ Because of the cold and aforementioned car issue, I've pretty much stayed inside all day. Knitting, and watching the Royal Ballet version of Swan Lake, and drinking too much hot chocolate. ;) Well, maybe it's not so bad.
☆ Speaking of Swan Lake, having now seen both the Happy Ending version (Moscow Ballet, live), and the Tragic Ending version (Royal Ballet, on disc) I must say I prefer the happy ending. Call me a sap, I guess. Though I must say the Royal Ballet's version was really well done.
(But any Swan Lake is good Swan Lake, I say - then again, it's my favourite of the ballets I've seen.)
On the topic of of various versions, consider: F/F version of Swan Lake. I wish that existed. ...I'm pretty sure it has never been done as an actual ballet, but maybe there's some sort of manga of this out there? It seems like the kind of thing that would exist as a manga. I should take a look when I'm more awake. I know that an M/M version of the ballet exists, Matthew Bourne's version of it, but I don't like the costuming in that one. ...Anyway.

fandomtrumpshate start tomorrow. I CAN HARDLY WAIT (yes, this requires capslock. :D )
☆ Managed to finish the draft for my Chocolate Box fic yesterday. Very happy about that. Unsure if I will have time for treats this year, but I'm going to try. Or maybe I'll just write two stories for my recip, who has very good taste.
(Well, of course they do, they're requesting things I offered. ;p ;p ;p)
☆ In for more cold weather this week. Oh dear....

For the two small fandoms I offered, I was comfortable writing any pairing (I usually offer "any" in exchanges for those). And then for the third, a big fandom with a large cast, I stated the characters I usually write but then said I'd be willing to give others a try - since we have a whole year to work on it, I figured I could do canon review along the way for anyone I wasn't sure about.
My bidders requested pairings I've never written before, so I was a little bit shaky getting started, but they loved the result so it all worked out. :D

So after a bidder wins the auction, they get in contact with you to How much direction on the story did you get? Was it just like "SHIP + THIS PROMPT" or did you get a basic outline of how they wanted the story to go?

As for how much direction the story got - it depends on the bidder. One of them gave me a pretty detailed summary of what they wanted the story to be. Another wanted a rarepair, gave me ideas of how she sees them, and then threw out a few very vague scenarios ("cozy downtime together? maybe some smut??" lol)
Another one gave me a few different scenarios to choose from, and after I picked one of them, we did some back-and-forth for more details about what kind of story she wanted.

All three of those options sound like pretty good ways to work out a story. Mostly I'm just concerned about getting too little as opposed to too much, and having "too much" free reign and accidentally creating something that the winner isn't happy with.
I think I've narrowed it down to the two fandoms I want to offer. I also found the

The St Petersburg Ballet production of Swan Lake will be on around here soon, hmmmmm.

AHH that sounds great, I wish I could go see it! '3'

That does sound like a very pleasant day. ♥ (It's not canon, but I feel like there MUST be some Princess Tutu fic out there that does F/F Swan Lake between Rue and Ahiru. And if there's not, there should be!!)
