Attending: Me, M2, A, C, V-chan, Kz & Ma & their dad, and Rl, a new guy. Sensei instructing. We also had a visitor, B-sensei, who used to be the main instructor at the club a long time ago.
Started with groundwork. I partnered with Rl; we worked on some turnovers and chokes for a bit. He's completely new to judo, but not to martial arts - he does jujitsu as well. So he did have some ideas about what was what. Hopefully he'll keep coming back. :V
Did some grip breaking. The standard variations, as well as something slightly different: If your opponent has a low lapel grip, rather than breaking it, you can grab the sleeve (both hands) and slide it downward to get it off. Slightly easier than other options.
Had time for a small amount of upright at the end. Just ogoshi onto the crash mat. Fun, though. No time for randori today.
Sensei had my orange belt certificate for me at the end of the day. He also had my official yellow belt certificate from Judo Alberta - I guess in addition to the club certificate, the provincial org sends them out as well. This one must have been kicking around his office or something like that. Anyway, good to have that squared.
