☆ I hadn't mentioned, but I've been back home for a few days now! Victoria in November is great; the weather was awesome - around +10C the entire time. It felt so freeing to be able to go around in just a fleece sweater, no proper jacket or anything. So, I'll be considering more autumn vacations in the future....
☆ Like I mentioned previously, the ballet performance was amazing. I can't say how Moscow Ballet's Swan Lake compares to other interpretations of this title, but I would totally see it again if the opportunity came up. Now I'm kind of curious about their Nutcracker - that's the other one that they do on their tours. Perhaps next year?
☆ Unnnfortunately, I think I'm coming down with a cold. I probably caught it on the plane or... at the airport or - well, I suppose it doesn't matter where I caught it. But I'm certainly not well pleased. Luckily catch-up at work hasn't been too bad, otherwise I would be having a rough time, I think.
☆ My company is switching over to a new version of their health insurance (or something to that effect - trying to be vague here) and man, fussing with that is such a pain, setting up my account for the new website and so on. I always feel like this technical stuff is so difficult for me to understand. Though the discussion about this did remind me that we are able to claim massage therapy on our work insurance. I... might need to consider that. Work leaves me feeling so sore sometimes! And it's possible that it could help with the problems I'm having with my hands, too.
☆ I have been researching bits and bites about medieval literature and manuscripts for fic purposes, and oh man, it's giving me such a craving... I can't remember where all of my Arthurian books are, but I should try to dig them up. I'm sure they're somewhere in my room. It's been ages since I've read anything in Middle English! This just will not do. ;)
☆ I am not going to allow myself to start ANY new stories until I finish the four things I have in active drafts right now. I mean it! No matter how tempting it is to start something new. (Will I hold to this? Who knows. ;p )
☆ Inko drew some angsty Kalmar Den/Nor and since I keep staring at it I figure I might as well slap the link here. Voila. Ahhh I love it. :') I should commission her again some time in the new year, that one she did for me this summer was so good.
☆ Oh, I almost forgot. Book haul from Victoria:
+ The Half-Finished Heaven: Selected Poems - Tomas Tranströmer
+ The Long Walk - Jan Zwicky
+ War at Sea in the Age of Sail - Andrew Lambert
+ Fighting Ships: Ships of the Line and Napoleonic Sea Battles 1793-1815 - David Davies
+ Don't Look Back - Karin Fossum
I'm really looking forward to reading these. :) Unsure what I'll think of Don't Look Back - I'm not familiar with that author, but it sure has been a while since I've read some Nordic Noir, so. Can hardly wait to dive into both of the naval warfare books - one of them has battle diagrams, you guys!! And as for the poetry, well. Zwicky is always a very good time, and Tranströmer's work is growing on me. (I kind of wish it were a facing translation, but we can't have everything.)
