It's very cold, and will continue to be very cold for the foreseeable future. And snowy. I'm going to need to wear my snowboots tomorrow. It will be so deep, it'll go right over the tops of my sneakers.
I really need to get better at pressing myself to go out... It's difficult to find motivation for it when it's cold and snowy and dark and there isn't anywhere in particular that I need to go. I mean, taking walks when it's like that isn't very nice, especially if you don't have anywhere specific that you need to go. People look at you like you have two heads if you seem like you're even thinking of going for a walk when there's a weather warning on. Not to mention the problem of evening walks. If you go for a walk at 9 PM in August, well, that's just pleasant - but if you go for a walk at 9 PM in November, when it has been night since 4:30 and it's pitch black and all - people think you are insane. And I guess it is a weird thing to do.
But... Staying inside is so boring.
Or maybe I'm just in a funk? Lately, I've been in one of those moods where everything is boring. Even things that I normally enjoy. So, being stuck inside just makes everything more boring.
Anyway.
T Kingfisher has a new novel coming out; Clockwork Boys. Of course, I want to read it, only question is - digital or hardcover? I love her work so much, and I really do like having the physical releases of her novels whenever possible, but... Hmm... I really should cut back on physical books. (Maybe I should wait a while, and hope there will be a paperback?)
Random complaint: I have been to four different stores in a quest to find holders for taper candles, and... I have not had any luck. Even stores that sell taper candles do not sell the holders for them. This is madness. Like, seriously, what the hell. I don't need them, mind you, and burning tea lights instead is all right because they're cheap and easy to store and you can buy a pack of 100 of them for a reasonable price, but... tapers just look so nice, you know?
I picked up The Girl in the Spider's Web from the library yesterday, and ahhh I wish I hadn't taken so long to read this one. The Millennium series has a lot of issues, and reading through the original trilogy sure is a slog sometimes - this is one of the few cases I can think of where the film(s) improved on the novel. But I really like Lisbeth Salander as a character. (Blomkvist can gtfo, though. He's boring. ...I have a feeling this is a widely-held opinion.) So, I'm glad that the series is continuing, even if it's under slightly atypical circumstances.
Oh fuck, I just looked outside, and... so... much... snow. I'm not looking forward to shovelling it.
WELL, at least that will take care of the "I'm bored out of my mind and everything is dull and I don't feel like doing anything, all I want to do is stare at the walls" thing. The driveway won't shovel itself.
