The [community profile] kinkluckydip exchange was a good one for me. Loved the parameters/concept; the bite-sized minimum wordcount and the freedom to write whatever I want as long as it was kinky in some way really worked for me. The only issue that I ran into is that it takes place at the start of the busiest part of the year at my work, but I managed to get everything in on time, so that turned out fine in the end.

Works were revealed over the weekend. 87 fandoms and over 150 works at this time. Yay!

Author reveals aren't for a while, so I can't link to what I wrote. But as for what I received - I made out like a bandit when it came to gifts, holy shit.

+ Art: Frosty Treat. Frozen, Elsa/Honeymaren, oral + clothes on, plus a cute little extra at the end that made me crack up. ;D

+ Art: Impromptu Hairplay. Hetalia, Romania/Norway, bondage and blindfolds and erogenous haircurl teasing... Somebody ("somebody") knows me very, very well. ;)

+ Fic: The Devil You Know (archive-locked). The Magnus Archives, Michael Distortion/Jon Sims, 2.3k, canon divergence from MAG 101 in which the door isn't locked, and Michael decides to... keep Jon around. ;) The author tagged for Spiral-typical mindfuckery and boy is it ever.

10/10, would participate again! If this one runs next year, I'll likely sign up, why the hell not.

Authors for Chocolate Box have been revealed! And so I can reveal myself. :D

I wrote some sugary sweet Frozen fic for [personal profile] elleth!

"Wishing for..." Elsa/Honeymaren, G, 1.2k.
Sometimes it's hard to be sure how someone feels. Sometimes, you just need to find out for yourself.

I really enjoyed writing this pairing. Hopefully I'll get some more ideas for them at some point so I can do more with them. :)

Went to see Frozen II this morning. It was fun!

Target audience: I think kids who liked the first one will enjoy the second one.
Older audience: I think adults who liked the first one will like the second one too, as long as they keep their expectations realistic. (In other words, don't expect it to be the best thing you've ever seen!)

Elsa is still THE COOLEST. Shiny and sparkly and badass!! And her final outfit (the white one) is super pretty, wow.

I found the ending pretty satisfying. :)

More stuff, including spoilery things )

Aaaand now, if you excuse me, I'm off to look for some Elsa/Honeymaren fanworks. ;) Hmm, maybe I should request that pairing for Chocolate Box!

Oh boy, does it ever drive me nuts when people assume Frozen is set in fantasy-Denmark. You don't get mountains and fjords like that in Denmark, man! It's so very Norway-inspired - not just the landscape, but the clothes, the architecture, the rosemåling designs everywhere... The fantasy-Norway aesthetic was one of the things I liked so much about it.

Anyway! The second trailer for Frozen II is out. I'm excited! It looks pretty neat. When the second film was first announced, I figured I wouldn't want a sequel. I'm still a little bit unsure about it. But watching this made me realize that I've missed Elsa and Anna a lot, and it'll be nice to spend some time with them again.

Going to keep some reservations, of course - it probably won't be amazing, but I do hope it'll be fun.

Will have to try to avoid any more information about it from now on, though. I don't want to spoil myself too much. ;)

I received some lovely fics for Multifandom Drabble Exchange! Hooray!

I haven't had time to go through the whole collection yet, so for now, I'll just list my gifts. :D

Stand Still Stay Silent

+ Static Closing In by Resilur. G, 400 words. (Note: this one is chaptered!) What's the harm in leaving the radio on? ...What's the point of leaving it on?

Nirvana in Fire

+ Letters by Melody_Jade. G, 200 words. So what was in the letter that Sir Su wrote to Nihuang after the Wei Zheng incident?

Hetalia

+ Cut-throat by SaraGeneris/Kanadka. 100 words, G. The popularity of the starched ruff as a fashion element hits Denmark right around the time he peaks.

Frozen

+ A Palace of Ice by Sweetcarolanne. 100 words, G. Elsa's new bride, Kamik, is very different from the people of Arendelle, but the queen and the foreign princess discover they have much in common!

+ Equal, and Opposite by thedevilchicken. 500 words, rated 18+. Elsa meets someone like her, who's not like her at all.

+ Ungloving by ConvenientAlias. 200 words, rated T. "I want your gloves off."

So, the trailer for Frozen 2 has dropped.

Thoughts:

* It looks pretty cool!

* I liked the first film a lot, but it went through a whole lot of rewrites and plot/character changes, and it definitely shows. Since this one didn't have the same issues with production, hopefully it won't have the same problems.

* The trailer looks pretty dark/serious compared to the first film. It would be interesting if the film itself has the same approach... I don't think it will, mind you, but if it did, that would sure be interesting.

* I like the costume redesigns, though I'll need to see a bit more before I decide how much I like them compared to the first film.

* I have no idea why Elsa is trying to fight The Entire Ocean, but damn does it ever look awesome. And Anna with the sword at the end of the trailer...! *_*

* I've seen some speculation that we might get some Kristoff backstory here, on account of some of the location changes. I like him, so I wouldn't mind if we did get more information about him, but after taking a look at the trailer for myself, I don't see any hint that we'll get anything of the sort. Which is fine by me, because as far as I'm concerned, the focus should be on Elsa and Anna anyway.

I saw the first film in cinema, and I think I'll try to do the same for this one too. :D I've been ages since I've gone out to see a movie - I think the last one I saw in theatres was Crimson Peak, heh. And there has been a new cinema built in my city since that time, which is nice. So... something to look forward to later in the year, I guess! :)

I posted 79 (!) individual works over at [personal profile] roesslyng over the course of 2016. This is a higher number of fics than I've ever finished in one year. The total wordcount was over 100k, which is also more than I've written in any given year. This year has been great, output-wise.

Final count: Stand Still Stay Silent (35), A Redtail's Dream (22), Hetalia (9), Yuri on Ice (4), Frozen (3), Original Work (3), Mad Max (1), Song of Achilles (1), and Rose of Versailles (1).

List under cut )

Dear Chocolatier,

Hi! I'm looking forward to being your recipient. The prompts I've outlined in this letter are just guidelines; if you have a great idea that doesn't hit my dislikes, go ahead and do that! I'm sure it'll be awesome. Many of these pairs are ones that I've requested before, so if you need more ideas, it might be worthwhile to look at my previous exchange letters.

In some cases, I've requested both & and / versions of the pairings, and I've folded them together in the prompt lists. Most of the things that I love in gen relationships are also things that I love in romance too, so it made sense to organize them that way. For medium, I've requested both fic and art for everything, because I appreciate both equally. Rating-wise, I'm equally okay with anything from very mild shipping (G-rated stuff) to 18+ scenarios for any of the requested romance ( / ) pairings. For the gen ( & ) pairs, I’m fine with anything from G to M, the latter especially if you’re doing horror fanwork! :D

Comments/questions/requests for clarification are welcome. For reference, my ao3 name is yuuago.

☆ I hope all of my southern neighbours on my FList have had a pleasant Thanksgiving. :D With good food and not too many awkward family moments.

☆ Not scheduled to work tomorrow. Thank gods. It's not a stat or anything (our Thanksgiving was last month, of course) it's just how the schedule fell, but ah. I'm so glad. I REALLY needed a day off... I mean, I could've done another, sure, but I'm just so tired. I haven't been sleeping properly for some weird reason, haven't quite figured out why yet, so I've been even more zombie-like than normal. It's a very good thing that my job doesn't require talking to anyone except through electronic communication, otherwise we would definitely have some problems.

☆ Received a lovely card in the mail from Kiraly today! <3 Such a nice surprise to come home to. Had some lovely art along with it, too - ink drawing of Onni from SSSS, and the absolutely adorable aRTD art of Jouko and his kids that I received for Trick or Treat exchange. <3 <3 <3 So much love. I'll have to go to WalMart and see if I can get some little frames for them, or something.

☆ Ooh, Moana is out in cinema now! I was talking with Anneliese the other day - she was able to see an early screening, and she loved it. Our tastes tend to be similar when it comes to animated things, so I should probably go. I don't know much about it beyond the veerrrrry general premise, and I'll keep it that way until I do get a chance - I haven't even watched any of the trailers, actually. Should be fun. ...And this also reminds me that I haven't seen Zootopia yet, which Anneliese also loved. Really should get around to that one. (Library, here I come...)

☆ Speaking of Anneliese, I can't remember if I linked the cute fanart she drew for me of Elsa with a kitty. Well, anyway, here it is. So adorable. <3 <3 <3 It's too bad that she's usually too busy to take commissions, because I'm really comfortable working/negotiating with her, and that does make a difference with things. Ah, well.

☆ I didn't ship Phichit/Seung Gil until I went poking through what the YOI fandom put up since this most recent ep... and now I think I at least see the appeal. Pfft. There's just something about Mister Sunshine/Mister Flatface combination, I don't know. (Of course, Leo/GuangHong is still my favourite, BUT.) It helps that Phichit goes well with... almost everybody, honestly. And some of the fanart is nice. (Like so: * * *)

☆ Mm. Pomegranate tea. <3 Life is good.

Trick or Treat Exchange author reveals were today! Hooray! So, now we know who wrote everything. I'm going to list what was written for me first, and then a few other recs, and you guys should take a look at all of them if you know the fandoms, because they're awesome.

My gifts:

* the tin man, in search of a heart by theladyscribe. Fandom: Ex Machina. Character: Ava. Unrated, ~750 words, gen, warning for body horror. Summary: The problem with a robot heart, Ava finds, is that eventually it stops beating.

* Fresh Bread for Breakfast by Kiraly. Fandom: A Redtail's Dream. Characters: Jouko Kuikka & the twins (mini versions!). G-rated gen, ~730 words, very precanon. Illustrated!! Summary: Jouko might not be a perfect man or a perfect father. But he gives his children what he can.

* Red by Idleleaves. Fandom: Stand Still Stay Silent. Characters: Emil & Lalli. G-rated gen, ~430 words. Summary: Lalli comes back from an excursion spattered in blood. Fortunately, it isn't his own.

* Last the Night by Elleth. Fandom: Stand Still Say Silent. Characters: Sigrun & Lalli. T-rated gen, ~950 words, canon-typical with some H/C. Summary: Lalli and Sigrun shelter in a certain church.

* Mikkel's Undocumented Account by Scribe of Mirrormere. Fandom: Stand Still Stay Silent. Characters: Mikkel, Sigrun, & Lalli. T-rated gen, ~700 words, canon-typical action & violence & magic. Summary: Sometimes Mikkel has a hard time not believing in magic.

Other recs

* Hetalia: ghosts of the past, or, how to be a haunted house by qichi. Character: Belarus & a ghost. T-rated gen, ~850 words. Summary: Belarus has taken it upon herself to help a village butcher out with his hometown's little spirit problem. But when it comes down to it, she wonders, is it actually a problem?
+If you like Hetalia, PLEASE read this fic, it's really great - one of the best APH fics I've read in a good while.

* A Redtail's Dream: Hokanniemi: Year 0 by qichi. Characters: Hannu & Paju. Gen, 1.4k, SSSS crossover. Summary: Hannu thinks it's just ridiculous, everyone talking like it's the end of the world or something.

* Stand Still Stay Silent: Another Vacation by Kiraly. Characters: Sigrun, Mikkel, Emil, Tuuri, Lalli, and Reynir. G-rated gen, 1.3k, post-canon/pre-another-expedition. Summary: A year after the first foray into the Silent World, a second expedition has been approved. Time for the crew to meet up at the Øresund base to head out for another adventure.
+There were 27 SSSS fics written for ToTEx, and I'd like to rec all of them! There's a little something for everyone. But the above is my favourite of the ones that weren't written for me.

* Pokemon GO: Maybe the real treasure is the ghosts we busted along the way by Masu_Trout. Characters/Pairing: Blanche/Candela/Spark. G-rated, 1.7k, very canon-typical & funny & delightful. Summary: Some days you wake up with a kitchen full of adorable pokémon. Others, you realize your bedroom is being haunted by ghosts.

* Black Sails: Firebrand and Siren by motetus. Characters: Anne Bonny & a mermaid. T-rated gen, no wordcount - THIS IS ART. I don't even know this canon, but seriously, go look at it, this illustration is gorgeous!

My contributions

...I wrote ten fics for Trick or Treat, so er, I'm going to put them under a cut. Or you can just look at the Trick or Treat Exchange tag in my archive over at [personal profile] roesslyng.

☆ It sure looks like I've been unproductive this month, but just you wait until the end of October, when I'm going to drop a ton of sick beats. And by sick beats I mean fanfiction. Bloody hell, I love exchange season.

☆ It's like we skipped autumn and went straight to winter, because it sure does look like December out there. This is actually pretty terrible, because nobody is prepared for it. I will admit that it looks nice, though.

☆ Said snow prevented me from going downtown for library books and katsudon. I'm irrationally butthurt about this. Going to make up for it tomorrow. LIBRARY OR BUST. Need to get used to tramping through snow to the bus stop, yo.

☆ Silent Night Exchange signups start Oct 16th. I suggest looking into it if you're into A Redtail's Dream or Stand Still Stay Silent; details over at [community profile] silentnightex. It's relatively low-pressure, which is nice. Aaand my letter is already up (Voila).

☆ I have concluded that I'm not over Frozen. "But Yuu!" you say, "That movie is three years old and also it's kind of a mess". I am aware. I do not care. IT IS A DELIGHT. Time to rewatch it for the Nth time Also Kristoff is really fucking hot I MEAN-

☆ Bloody pokestops better give me some revives or I'm gonna blow a gasket, grumble grumble GRUMBLE.

☆ Note to self: Acquire tacky Halloween decorations, then decorate cubicle at work. Yes. Good plan.

☆ I make so many pointless posts.
yuuago: (Åland - Plotting)
☆ Signups for [community profile] trickortreatex are open! (And my letter is here.) I'm so excited for this exchange, you guys. I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that somebody will request some horror in a canon that I can write; that would be so cool. But if not... still fun! The low minimum is so freeing. <3 And I remember that I really enjoyed treating for it last year. (I'm still really pleased with that Ex Machina fic, honestly.)

☆ I should (keyword, should) be getting access to the extra phone again tonight. I think. WHICH MEANS... PokeGo time. YESSS. I'm so excited for the update that I've been hearing about, oh man. It sounds great. While I've heard some lukewarm response on certain things (mainly people disappointed about the distance you have to walk in order to get candy) it doesn't sound like much trouble for me, because my nightly circuit is roughly 5km anyway. Though, soon I'm going to have to buy some reflectors or something, to wear when I go out, because it's starting to get pretty dark really early up here, and safety is a concern. Not a big deal, though.

☆ SSSS fandom had an awesome, unexpected reveal yesterday. :D We finally have a first name and character design for Grandma Hotakainen - Ensi Hotakainen. SHE LOOKS SO COOL! I was so excited, I just had to whip up something quick*. And Folie wrote something too - go read it, it's great. I hope we'll get more information about her in the future; what little we currently have to go by makes her seem like she's a character who'd be very much to my taste. I love tough older women.

☆ Found myself listening to the Frozen soundtrack this afternoon, and got knocked over with a whole bunch of feelings. Wham, right in the kisser! Yes, yes, "Let It Go" is super overplayed, but... man, I still love it. Probably because I over-identify with Elsa to an almost embarrassing degree, but I've heard that's not unusual. Looks like I'm due for a rewatch - especially since there will probably be some requests for Trick or Treat, and while I'd love to write for it, I'm not sure I can manage that without doing canon review. Come to think of it, my Ideas doc has several personal fics that I wanted to write but never got around to, as well. Some day, some day....

☆ I FINALLY figured out how to sign in to the library and, among other things, borrow ebooks. SCORE. I WIN. Usually I prefer paper anyway, but this is great for travel. And for, like, cases where the books are basically bricks (here's looking at you, later portions of the Harry Potter series....) Unfortunately, there are also a lot of bricks that I want to read that aren't in the ebook system. One of said bricks is With Fire and Sword by Henryk Sienkiewicz; after discovering that the library had the novel (but unfortunately not the film as well), I went to take a look and... oh dear. Um. It's huge. And my arms were already full of other books. xD Some day I will grab that bigass hardcover and cart it home, but er, not this week, thank you. There's also this one biography of Van Gogh; it looks amazing and the only reason I haven't read it yet is because it's enormous and hardcover and weighs over a kilogram.

☆ I spent more money than I should have on indie fragrance sample vials. My brain is telling me I should know better. My nose is excited about autumn limited editions. The nose wins - this time. Really though, I'm super excited (argh, just wish that the mail didn't take so long to get here) - last year, Traveling Vardo had some real winners.

Wow, it is disgustingly hot. Well, actually, it isn't even THAT bad, really - around 30C - but heat and I don't mix well. I just, ugh. I can't deal with this when it's so hoooot. I can't sleep, I can't concentrate on my work, I can't do much of anything. Blech.

On the other hand, I do like summer weather. And... I really wish I lived somewhere where the period of nice weather wasn't so short. I've been thinking that it might be fun to get a bike, but the biking season is so short here, it doesn't seem worth the bother. (Not to mention that this city is definitely not bike-friendly. No biking lanes, for one thing. And I am not riding on the fuckin' highway so some jackass in a pickup truck can hit me. No sir.)

I was thinking about Frozen today. I liked that movie a lot. There might have been a lot of wank about it, but I still liked it. But I do have some things I've been thinking about in relation to that, and I kind of want to put it down somewhere. So I'll probably do that eventually. But I need to re-watch it, because even though I bought the DVD, I haven't seen it since I saw it at the cinema. And there are a few things that I want to research... Just need to do some doublechecking really.

It reminds me that I wanted to write some fic for that film, too. But I don't know if I'll be able to get the voices down. Well, it probably wouldn't hurt to try. And maybe re-watching it will give me some ideas for some short things. Hard to say...!
